For sale is a Victorian silver plate embossed or repousse teapot or coffee pot by The Meriden Britannia Silver Plate Company. The base is also marked with Silliman's Silver ring Hard Metal. During the late 1800's Silliman's plating was advertised as the closest thing to sterling. The company claimed that the plate would last longer and the "sound" and "feel" of the plating would be identical to sterling.
