Up for auction is a Victorian silver plate / triple plate teapot or coffee pot by The Taunton Silver Company from the late 1800's. The Taunton Silver Co was an American manufacturing company active in Taunton MA from 1853 to 1859. Some of the company was reconstructed in 1872 and continued until 1874 with its showroom at 4 Maiden Lane, New York City. On December 16, 1874 the Brooklyn Daily Eagle advertised that the firm would be auctioning off their showroom and all stock as it would no longer be in business. In 1880 the firm was purchased by Stearne and Company. The teapot is exceptional in design and features a small pony resting under a morning glory and lovely patina in the etched design. Each of the four feet are in the "Bearded Man or Viking" pattern. The teapot or coffee pot stands about 11.5 inches tall and 8 inches wide at the widest point. There are no monograms or dents and the silver plate is in good condition as shown in the pictures. The inside is clean and usable. We will supply additional information and pictures if the buyer requests such. We do not believe in Buyers or Sellers Remorse. If we sell an item for less than worth we will still ship as part of our agreement but if you purchase an item we expect you to live up to your part of the bargain. Please ask questions. We will gladly answer. Please scroll down to view all the pictures.
